Located at West Broadway, Suika's interior is pretty unique. The most prominent decor is the Japanese beer bottles chandelier. Unlike Kingyo, Suika took a modern approach for the interior and the atmosphere was very comfortable and lively.
The service was by far the best among other izakayas in Vancouver. All the staffs were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Suika has a huge selection of Japanese drinking with the addition of several in house special drinks. The food menu was very interesting as well ( update: for the menu please read the entry on my second visit here ). It consisted of a mix of new and classic izakaya dishes. A few dishes from the menu were influenced by Korean cuisine such as Kakuni bibimbap and Kimchi Sukiyaki. They also have some intriguing dishes such as Tokyo Oxtail Ramen and Tonsoku ( a pork foot sauteed till crispy with soy butter). Their daily special menu on the other hand was limited to few selection of dishes.
All in all, Suika was a breath of fresh air and it's definitely a cool place to hang out for drinks and snacks.

That's a cute looking place. Nice photographs, as always.
Commenting to give you props on the incredible photos.
Not lying when I say they're the best of all the Vancouver food blogs I've read so far.
If you don't mind me asking, how do you shoot, exactly?

Christao: Thank you Chris really appreciate it!
Adam & Edward: Thank you guys for your nice compliment! I am not too sure how to address your question. All I can say is I shot them straight from camera, no flash was used.
